In Praise Of Walking (2022).
In Praise Of Walking is an exploration of possibilities in which shows the journey I walk, using philosophical and psychological theories; alongside the theory of walking as a guidance on how spectators can recognize the surroundings that me, the observer, captures from their optical unconscious mind. The journey shows a continuum on foot from start to end, with a total of 230,000 steps (115 miles) taken from where I live to the location of capture; staying within a 10-mile radius of the place I've resided for 20 years, Dorset.
The images shown within the book were captured over the span of 6 months, starting in October of 2021 and ending March 2022, with them being shown in chronological order to show the exact journey in which I had walked within the timeframe. The title In Praise Of Walking' was taken from the poem with the same name: wrote by Thomas A. Clarke: which evokes the philosophy and practise of walking, looking at its many pleasures and rejoicing in small moments.
