Lydia May Summers (b.2000) is a fine art photographer based in Dorset, United Kingdom.
With 8 years’ experience, a BA Honour degree and currently completing a Master’s degree in photography at the Arts university Bournemouth, Lydia specialises in analog photography. A running theme within their work Is capturing the essence of the ‘Mind’s eye,’ visually showing others their perception of the world as if you are looking through their eyes. As well as the idea of the Optical Unconscious and photography’s ability to reveal the hidden depths and unseen dimensions within the landscapes. Her technical expertise and artistic vision combine to create mesmerising images that transport viewers to a realm beyond the physical. Lydia’s creative process is heavily inspired by early photographers. Lydia invites us to delve into the depths of our own unconscious, connecting with the beauty of the natural world in a truly profound way.
I am very fortunate to have my own darkroom where I develop film and make prints from, to feel more connected to the work I am making.
Cameras used : Mamiya RB67, Intrepid 5X4, Bronica ETRSI/ SQA.
